Online Auctions

Read This First: How Our Online Auctions Work

Welcome to Churches Thrift Shop’s Online Auctions! Please read the following rules before bidding. Thank you!
  • The items available for bids are listed below. Each item has its own post and comment section.
  • Most posts include several photos arranged in a slideshow format. Please be sure to click the arrow buttons to view each photo, as some may contain important details about the item.
  • If you see an item you would like to bid on, please leave a reply to the item’s post with your real name and the amount you are bidding. All bids should be in whole-dollar amounts. We notify winners by email, so please do not post your phone number or other personal details! Please ensure you have entered your email address correctly and in the appropriate field. It will only be visible to the site admin.
  • Each item’s post will contain a starting bid. Any bids lower than the amount of the starting bid will not be considered valid.
  • Please note that we reserve the right to delete any comment that does not contain a bid.
  • The exact end date for bids is not preset, but items will usually remain open for bids for approximately two weeks, give or take a day or two. In some cases, if there are no valid bids, we may decide an item should be left open for bids for an additional two-week auction period.
  • As previously stated, after bidding closes we will notify the winner by email. Please be sure to check your email regularly in case we have contacted you.
  • Please note: You must be willing and able to pay for and pick up your item in person within two business days at Churches Thrift Shop in Salmon Arm, BC, Canada. Your ability to pick up within this time frame is a condition of participating in our auctions. If you are unable to, and do not contact the store by telephone to make mutually agreeable alternate arrangements, we reserve the right to offer the item to the next bidder, or, if there are no other bidders, to sell it in the store, re-auction it, or take another action of our choice. This is because we have limited storage space and need to keep things moving to make room for new items. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation on this.
  • When you arrive at the store and are ready to pick up your item, please go to a cashier and let them know you are there to pick up an Online Auction item.
  • Items are “as is.” No refunds or returns. Items are tested to the best of our ability, but even though they are working when we test them, we can’t guarantee the life expectancy of an item, for example electronics, appliances, etc.
  • Troubleshooting note: If you post a bid and it does not appear on our site, it is possible the site’s spam filter placed it in a moderating queue and it will need to be manually approved by the site admin the next time she is online. This is likely to happen if there is an email address or link in the body of the comment, as the filter considers that spam. Please ensure that your email address is only in the required field and not in the body of the comment. Also, a recent issue that has arisen is that WordPress has recently updated its user interface for posting comments and replies. To post a comment, you’ll notice that you need to begin typing in the comment box first before additional options appear. You may be asked to log in. Even if you do not have a WordPress account, you can still comment by selecting the “email” option. Simply provide your email address in the required field, and you should be able to submit your comment. If you encounter any issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to us, and we’ll be happy to assist you in posting your bid. However, if your email address is already associated with a WordPress account, and you are not already logged in, you will be asked to log into your account. If you know your password, please do log in. If you don’t know your password, please click “Lost your password” and follow the instructions you receive. Please do this even if you do not remember creating a WordPress account. Many other businesses and individuals use WordPress for their websites and it is possible you may have created an account to use or interact with one of them in the past. If you have any further trouble, please feel free to contact us here through our site, or if that is not possible due to your continued technical difficulties, through our Facebook page.
 Thank you, and have fun!
