Notice of Temporary Closure of Receiving at Churches Thrift Shop

Receiving will be closed for three weeks from Monday, September 20th, through Monday, October 11th (the Thanksgiving Stat).
This is because we are busting at the seams with no room to spare. We need time to sort and organize what we have. We truly don’t want to have to resort to this, but if we don’t all our wonderful donations could be ruined out in the weather.
Receiving will reopen on Tuesday, October 12th.
Once Receiving reopens, Receiving days will be slightly different because we will need to shut it down every Thursday so we have one day a week to catch up on our inventory to keep it sorted, clean, & dry.
The new Receiving times, as of October 12th, will be: Open Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday 9:30am – 3:30pm, closed Thursday, then open Friday 9:30am – 3:30pm & Saturday 9:30am – 3:00pm.

A Couple of Requests About Donations…

For safety purposes, when donating items, please do not put hard items in bags. Many of our staff & volunteers have been injured (albeit usually not seriously) from sharp or broken objects in bags. It would be greatly appreciated if only clothes were put in bags & hard items in boxes. Also, if it’s not too much trouble & you’re willing to do so, it would be very helpful to us if items were separated by category, like books in one box, housewares in another, etc.

New Receiving Hours

Unfortunately, due to an excess in drop-offs in the last few months, Churches Thrift Shop needs to limit receiving hours to:
Monday to Friday: 9:30am to 3:30pm
Saturday: 9:30am to 3:00pm
We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but we need to be able to take good care of the precious treasures that are generously donated.
Thank you for your understanding and patience during these busy times!

Reminder About Donations

Just a reminder: While we are very grateful for the donations we receive and the generosity of our community, we respectfully request that only clean, working, sellable items be donated. I’m sure we’ve all heard the saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Unfortunately, that saying doesn’t ring true here at Churches Thrift Shop. If it’s trash, we can’t sell it. We have no choice but to dispose of it, which adds to our garbage fees, leaving us with less to give back to the community. For more information about donating, please see our Donations page. Thank you!
