Here at Churches Thrift Shop we are in need of good packing material such as bubble wrap or packing wrap (no newspapers please as they bleed colour). If anyone has any they could donate we would very appreciative! Also, just a reminder that when you come to shop, you will need to bring your own shopping bags now. Thank you!
Mayor Harrison recently interviewed our manager, Diana Mangold, and one of the topics discussed was our grant program. We accept grant applications from local, benevolent, registered charities. We give grants once a year when finances permit. Our next application deadline is the 31st of March, 2022. Please call the store at 250-832-8234 for more info or come down in person if you would like an application form. Thank you!
For safety purposes, when donating items, please do not put hard items in bags. Many of our staff & volunteers have been injured (albeit usually not seriously) from sharp or broken objects in bags. It would be greatly appreciated if only clothes were put in bags & hard items in boxes. Also, if it’s not too much trouble & you’re willing to do so, it would be very helpful to us if items were separated by category, like books in one box, housewares in another, etc.
We are no longer accepting donations of trophies, glasses with the Olympic Torch on them (Olympics advertising), or empty jars that are not canning jars.
Please note that we do not accept used medication, including opened bottles of Tylenol or allergy medication. You can take them to any pharmacy to dispose of them. If you do bring them here, we can’t sell them and will have to take them to a pharmacy ourselves. Thank you!
Just a reminder: While we are very grateful for the donations we receive and the generosity of our community, we respectfully request that only clean, working, sellable items be donated. I’m sure we’ve all heard the saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Unfortunately, that saying doesn’t ring true here at Churches Thrift Shop. If it’s trash, we can’t sell it. We have no choice but to dispose of it, which adds to our garbage fees, leaving us with less to give back to the community. For more information about donating, please see our Donations page. Thank you!
