About

The Churches of Salmon Arm Used Goods Society, known locally as the Churches Thrift Shop or Churches Thrift Store, is a nonprofit organization in Salmon Arm, BC, Canada. Our mission statement was defined in the early 1960s and remains today: “To minister to those in need in the manner and service of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by providing household and personal effects at a nominal cost and providing household and personal effects at no cost to victims of disaster and to those unable to pay for them.”

In the early 1960s, the opening of Roger’s Pass brought new traffic and new faces to the small town of Salmon Arm. The need for warm clothing grew and the RCMP asked local churches to help.

The resulting operation grew from a handful of churches handing out donated clothing from a church basement once a week to what it is today: A large thriving store offering all kinds of used goods for affordable prices. We now carry not only clothing, but also appliances, furniture, hardware, housewares, books, and toys. We even carry antiques and collectibles, which can be found in the Boutique section of our store, and we now also offer Online Auctions where we will feature items that may be of special value or interest.

We are staffed by both paid employees and a large number of volunteers for whom we are very grateful, as for our entire history they have been an exceptionally significant part of making us what we are and allowing us to carry out our mission.

We are also very grateful to those who donate quality used goods that are in good working order. The generosity of this community continues to bless us and the people we serve.

Our regular hours of operation are:

Monday: 11 am – 5 pm
Tuesday-Friday: 10 am – 5 pm
Saturday: 10 am – 4:30 pm
Sunday: Closed
