I really appreciated your thorough explanation regarding vintage VS antique.
Thanks very much. Church’s staff are always so helpful.

Grant, an antique is usually over 100 years old and valued for its age and rarity. Vintage means it’s from a previous era but not necessarily quite that old; think stylishly old, not ancient.
Also, from the Merriam Webster dictionary, the two definitions of vintage that apply here:
vintage
adjective
– of old, recognized, and enduring interest, importance, or quality : classic
– dating from the past : old
As you know, the items in our auction have been donated, so we don’t usually know their history. We don’t want to claim that something is antique if we’re not certain. However, we can tell when something is an older item of quality.
In the case of this clock, we do not see a year on the clock, but from all the hardware, we are guessing that it is early 1900s.
Can you please define vintage to help me to know the approximate age of clock. Thanks.
