It has come to our attention that some people are having trouble posting bids in our Online Auction.
One particular issue that’s causing confusion is that WordPress has been assigning unwanted user names to repeat customers. Churches Thrift Shop has no control over this, and we understand that it can be disconcerting when you see your bid appear under an unfamiliar handle, but it is not a problem. In the system, the user name is connected to your email address. When we’re in admin view, we will be able to see your real email address as the contact information for that bid. Perhaps for clarity for all concerned, you could type your real name into the body of the comment next to your bid. However, it is not a problem if you don’t, as we will go by your email address when determining the winner.
Also, if you post a bid and it does not immediately appear on our site, it is possible the site’s spam filter placed it in a moderating queue and it will need to be manually approved by the site admin the next time they are online. This is likely to happen if there is an email address or link in the body of the comment, as the filter considers that spam. Please ensure that your email address is only in the required field and not in the body of the comment.
If you find that you have other technical difficulties posting a bid, please try updating your browser and/or clearing your cache.
If you still have trouble, don’t worry! You can still bid by messaging us through our site’s Contact Page or our Facebook Page with your name, email address, the name of the item you’d like to bid on, and your bid amount. If for some reason you are unable to send a message, you can call the store at 250-832-8234 during business hours and ask for Bev or Diana and give them the information.
Business hours are:
Monday: 11 am – 5 pm
Tuesday-Friday: 10 am – 5 pm
Saturday: 10 am – 4:30 pm
We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you will continue to participate in our Online Auctions! Thank you! We appreciate you all!
